On Wednesday, September 13th from 5:30-7:00pm at Propeller, Converge, Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights and Orleans Public Education Network will co-host a public forum on educational equity in New Orleans. The forum will serve as the official launch of the New Orleans Education Equity Index website and the release of the accompanying Equity Matters report. The Index is designed to promote educational equity in New Orleans by measuring and reporting on how well schools are providing the access and supports for all students to receive an excellent education that affirms their fundamental dignity and provides them the opportunity to thrive.

The Association of Black Foundation Executives (ABFE) features Converge founder and principal Takema Robinson in ABFE Magazine’s August 2017 edition. Takema, a 2013 ABFE Connecting Leaders Fellow, sat down with Toya Randall, Senior Director of Community Initiatives at Casey Family Programs and ABFE Board Member, to discuss what it means to be a Black woman in leadership and how she sustains herself in the work.

The journey to becoming Converge has been an exciting one. When I think back over the past year, I am so proud of what Hamilton, Takema and I have accomplished together. The decision to join forces, combining the Verbena Group with Momentum for Progress, has exceeded our expectations. Collectively we have articulated a vision for our work that speaks to our shared commitment to bringing about a just new world, and we are steadily building a team and a body of work to support those efforts. There are endless ways to contribute to this vision, and if you are reading this blog entry, I assume that you too are accomplices in these efforts.
